Art Center

     The Art Center Or (Taman Budaya Bali) is located at Abian Kapas, on Jalan Nusa Indah Denpasar Bali, or approximately fifteen Kilometres from Bali Ngurah Rai Airport and two kilometres east of Denpasar. Art Center or Taman Budaya Bali is a building complex with Balinese architecture as a place to develop art. Bali Art Center was founded by the first Governor of Bali, Mr Ida Bagus Mantra. He is a leader who is very concerned about the preservation of art, especially Balinese art. So that, The Art Center complex was built and was first opened in 1973, and from then on this place was officially used as a place for organizing art events, one of which every year for one month at this place held an art party event called Bali Arts Festival (Bali Art Festival), where the party features a variety of artistic performances, craft exhibitions and other commercial activities. The Bali Arts Festival not only displays traditional Balinese arts but also displays many arts from other regions and even from neighbouring countries such as Japan and Korea.

The composition of the building complex in the Bali Art Center consists of:

1. The sacred building complex such as: Taman Beji Temple, Bale Selonding, Bale Pepaosan, etc.

2. The quiet building complex such as: Widya Kusuma Library, where there are books stored on the history of Bali.

3. The half-crowded building complex such as: Mahudara Exhibition Hall, Kriya Building,    Sculpture Studio, Wisma Seni and Wantilan. This place is a hall for Balinese art exhibitions.

4. The crowded building complex includes: Open Stage Ardha Candra and Ksirarnawa covered stage (both located south of the river).

                                                                                                     

     The Art Center consists of a two-story exhibition building and an open theatre that can accommodate 5.000 people. In the exhibition building various works of art on display, such as painting, sculptures, wood-carvings hand-woven fabric silver and gold wares, etc. All of which are the products of famous Balinese artists. And the dance and the music performed at the open theatre are of the highest artistic quality, with graceful movements and fascinating melodies. The Art Center is worthwhile to visit.
